What should you know about Demon Slayer?
Kimetsu no Yaiba or Demon Slayer is an ongoing anime series that first aired in 2019. It has received a lot of love and popularity all over the globe.
The original manga series is written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. The manga has reached its end. It was completed in May 2020.
The first season consists of a total of 26 episodes. It portrays how the main protagonist, Kamado Tanjiro sets out on a journey to slay demons after his family gets slain by the demon Muzan Kibutsuji and how his sister, Kamado Nezuko turns into a demon.
Tanjiro trains with the previous water hashira and finally join the demon slayer corps after taking the exam.
He goes on various missions throughout the first season and eventually fights one of the twelve moons at the end of the season.
After the first season, Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train was released in 2020. It’s one of the highest-grossing anime movies in Japan and even crossed the Ghibli movie Spirited Away and Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name.
The Demon Slayer Chronicles were also released recently which mainly revolves around the deceased flame hashira, Rengoku Kyojurou.
Season 2 of demon slayer is currently ongoing. The first episode was released on December 5, 2021.
Season 2 is based on Entertainment District Arc in which the Tanjiro joins the sound hashira, Uzui Tengen on a mission along with his friends Zenitsu and Inosuke.
The main antagonists in this arc are the Upper Moon Six: Daki and Gyutaro. Daki and Gyutaro are the demon siblings who reside in the entertainment district and continue to terrorize the people there.
Uzui is on a mission to Yoshiwara to find his wife who went missing while investigating the district. He had sent his three wives, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru, to investigate the district. There Uzui and Tanjiro encounter the demon Daki and fight her.
The entertainment district arc also shows Nezuko in action where she develops great physical strength and regeneration ability. Currently, 6 episodes of season 2 have been released. New episodes air every Sunday in Japan. They are available on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Netflix.
