If you’ve ever had a freshly made Grandma’s blueberry pie, you already know where we’re headed. But if not, then you’re in for one heck of a treat. One that’ll leave you wanting more.

Ingredients for Grandma’s Blueberry Pie

  • 3 cups Fresh Blueberries
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • dash(es) salt (as required)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (fresh)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • pie layering crust recipe

The best outcome is when you have ingredients fresh from the store or freshly composed together. The crust is just as important as the pie itself. Make sure it’s even, crumby and blended the right way before proceeding.

Ingredients for a pie layering crust

  • 1 cup butter flavoured shortening
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Kosher salt
  • 6 tbsp cold freshwater

Howto” steps:

Step 1:

If you have your own recipe for the crust, then go straight ahead. But if you want to follow the one here, go right ahead.
Step 2:
In a bowl, add flour, salt, and the flavoured shortening. Use pastry cutters or table knives to cut the dough as the ingredients are added.
Step 3:
Add cold water and cut until the dough comes as one entity.

Step 4:

Divide into two separate spherical shapes of similar sizes.

Step 5:

Roll until flat and big enough to fit a pie-sized pan.

Step 6:

Place one flat side in the pie pan. Flatten it out evenly and soften out the rough edges.

Step 7:

For the pie fudge, combine blueberries, some sugar, a hint of salt, all-purpose flour, & few drops of lemon juice.

Step 8:

Fill the pie pan till the top, levelled. Clear the top to become flat.

Step 9:

Top it with small cubes of butter. And lots of ‘em.

Step 10:

Add the top crust dough and seal from the sides by pressing evenly.

Step 11:

Make small cross slits in the middle.

Step 12:

Bake at a pre-heated oven at 375 for 50-60 minutes.

Step 13:

Let the pie cool to room temperature.
